Dale started out in public accounting in 1972 working for a firm in the Upper Peninsula.  He moved to  Saranac, MI in 1975 then to St. Johns in 1982.  In 1988, Dale decided to venture out on his own and on July 1, 1991, partnered with Mike Gaffney forming Abraham & Gaffney, P.C.  Together they started the firm with 5 employees in St. Johns.  Today the firm has 3 locations in St. Johns, East Lansing, and Auburn Hills with approximately 40 employees. 

Dale works exclusively with businesses and individuals offering a full spectrum of services including tax preparation and planning, as well as business consulting which includes advising on buying and selling business’s, recruiting key employees, establishing retirement plans, setting up accounting systems using QuickBooks and many things in between.

Steve joined A&G in 1992 as a senior auditor and was the fifth employee of the firm. Steve is a “homegrown” auditor that moved to manager and then principal in 1999.  Steve works exclusively with governmental and nonprofit entities, conducting audits for federally and state funded programs, management and advisory services to firm clients, and nonprofit tax issues from the East Lansing office. Steve led the building project of the East Lansing office facility in 2004-2005.  Steve pushes all team members to exceed client expectations by providing timely, accurate, high quality, compassionate, and all inclusive services. Steve grew up in Ovid, MI and lives in Dewitt, MI with his family.

Track Record

  • Served as interim finance director on two (2) separate occasions for over a year during transition periods at the township - the high level of service provided during those 2 occasions has led to the township appointing A&G permanently as the finance director going forward
  • Assists small nonprofits organizations to obtain 501(c)(3) status
  • Conducted multiple agreed upon procedures engagements related to potential frauds,      embezzlements, and other inappropriate activities and has testified in court related to these engagements

Eric picked accounting mainly because he had an older brother in the profession and because he enjoyed his first accounting class in high school.  Eric joined Abraham & Gaffney, PC in 1995.  In 2003, he was promoted to principal in the business and tax services department in St. Johns.  Eric specializes in working with small closely held businesses.  He helps them with Financial Statements, tax returns and business strategy.  Eric also serves on the firm’s Marketing Committee. Eric was raised in Grand Rapids and now resides in Dewitt.

Aaron first joined Abraham & Gaffney, P.C. in 1994. In 1998, he left the firm to pursue other career opportunities, including serving as the Treasurer for the City of St. Johns for two years.  Realizing his true passion was auditing, Aaron returned to A&G in 2000. Serving clients from both the Auburn Hills and East Lansing offices, Aaron specializes in the governmental and nonprofit industries. Beyond his client service responsibilities, Aaron plays numerous other roles at A&G and is an integral part of the firm’s success and execution.  He is responsible for scheduling for the audit department, is a member of the firm’s Marketing Committee, and is the principal in charge of the firm’s quality control.  Aaron was raised in Dewitt and resides there today with his family.

Alan joined Abraham & Gaffney, P.C. in 2003 after spending over 13 years with other public accounting firms and a governmental software provider.  Alan joined A&G as a manager and served five years in that capacity until becoming a principal in January of 2008. Alan has worked extensively with governments and not-for-profit entities to serve their auditing and consulting needs.  Alan is assigned to our East Lansing/Auburn Hills audit team. Alan was born and raised in Flint, MI.  He and his family now live in Haslett, MI.

Bill has lived in the Lansing Area his entire life.  When it became time to apply to college, there is only one that a true Spartan would apply, Michigan State University!  Right out of MSU, Bill joined the A&G team.  He knew right away he had found his place. Bill was impressed with the firm’s rapid growth, its positive client relationships, and the partner’s involvement with his audits.  As principal in the East Lansing office, Bill only works with governmental and not-for-profit organizations. His primary focus is on providing comprehensive audit services to cities, counties, townships, and villages.
